A single minded gut busting celebration of spontaneous and almost uncontrollable organic growth featuring new mutations by Conor Wickham and Mark Beatty using the natural world as reference to influence systems of making.
The exhibition shows our exploration of this theme using ink drawing and paper/ card construction.

My work is a stylised documentation of form. I am interested in the interconnectivity of organic life and how this relationship is underpinned by chaos, disorder and unpredictability. My work is created with the same approach; there is no grand vision or clear narrative; the process is responsive and nonlinear.
Mark Beatty
Ritually collecting, flat packing, measuring, cutting, colour coding, card kicking, paper punching, sticking and folding…
Scrap and recycled paper along with card sourced from retail units and used in the distribution and carriage of goods have been cut down into the simple shapes that define most biological life on earth.
Using common traits between making and natural growth – repetition, tessellation, symmetry and spiral growth – I have used these shapes to build patterns and form structures to make my own variants.
The resulting work is an attempt to up-cycle. It is a tribute to the trees.
